Spirtual Wellness
Spiritual wellness includes the all of everything; the mental, physical, and emotional are different expressions of the spiritual. As Yogi Ramacharaka says, “One should not attempt to divorce his belief in the Spirit leadings from his physical life – for Spirit pervades everything, and manifests in the physical (or rather through it) as well as in the highest mental states. One may eat with the Spirit and drink with it, as well as think with it. It will not do to say ‘this is spiritual, and that is not,’ for all is spiritual, in the highest sense.”
In our culture, we often see God/Spirit/Higher Power/[insert your own word here] as an outside part of our life. Unfortunately, religious institutions often make their mark as something that we do or somewhere where we go; this can make religion seem outside of our life. Since religion and spirituality may seem interchangeable, we might link our spiritual self as something that is cultivated outside of us; although, this lifestyle actually disconnects us from the innately spiritual beings that we are. When we embrace our spiritual nature, we reconnect with the source (God/Spirit/Higher Power/etc.) and allow the light to consume us; essentially we allow ourselves to ‘tune in’ or ‘plug in’ to that which has infinite potential. When we allow our lives to constantly live with that power, we remain connected to the whole and allow the process of healing to flow freely throughout our lives.
“Our physical bodies exist within a larger ‘body,’ a human energy field or aura, which is the vehicle through which we create our own experience of reality, including health and illness. It is through this energy field that we have the power to heal ourselves.” - Barbara Brennan, Hands of Light
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness’.” - Genesis 1:26
